Cutting device for cutting tobacco fibers from supplied tobacco cake, has drum including cutting knife with side surface including coating increasing surface hardness, and another side surface including different surface hardness
The device (1) has a rotary knife drum (7) including a cutting knife (10) with a side surface (21) and another side surface provided adjacent to a cutting edge (20). The former side surface of the cutting knife includes a coating increasing surface hardness. The latter side surface includes a different surface hardness after expiration of an intake phase. The coating is made of amorphous bonded carbon. The coating includes a layer thickness of 0.003 mm. The knife with the latter side surface is guided at a grinding body (8). The side surfaces enclose an angle of 23.5 degrees.
