PURPOSE: A motion estimating device is provided to perform SAD(Sum of Absolute Difference) calculation according to various algorithms based on a prediction technique by a common block.;CONSTITUTION: An SAD calculating unit(30) calculates an SAD according to motion estimating algorithms according to an output from a demultiplexer. A comparator(40) compares SAD values calculated in the SAD calculating unit. The comparator outputs a motion vector. A controller(60) determines an address outputted from an address generating unit according to the motion estimating algorithms.
