PURPOSE: A device for detecting minute cracks using non-linear characteristics of ultrasonic resonance and a method using the same are provided to measure a resonance frequency transition and changed amount of normal resonance amplitude by measuring a change of ultrasonic resonance patterns according to a change of excitation voltages and to calculate as non-linear characteristic factors so that a start of cracks and initial minute cracks are detected. CONSTITUTION: A device for detecting minute cracks using non-linear characteristics of ultrasonic resonance comprises a piezoelectric sensor(11) for excitation, a receiving piezoelectric sensor(13), a function generation and amplifier(14), an amplifier(15), a signal processing unit, and a controller(16). The piezoelectric sensor for the excitation contacts to an object to measure ultrasonic resonance patterns while changing excitation frequencies. The function generation and amplifier generate an AC voltage corresponding to ultrasonic frequencies to supply the AC voltage to the piezoelectric sensor. The amplifier filters and amplifies ultrasonic wave resonance signals obtained by the piezoelectric sensor.
