The present invention is an investment planning device which calculates available funds at each point in time in the future and displays a suitable investment period and investment amount. In the device are stored such information as product configurations, suppliers, customers, production resources, sales, purchases, and cash, whereupon a user additionally defines such plans as production capacities and investment amounts. The device calculates cash flow on the basis of such information as a period until collection of accounts receivable, a period until payment of accounts payable, sales, and expenses, identifies a period in which the amount of cash flow without investment exceeds the amount of investment (or investment mix), performs a production simulation across periods in which investment is possible, calculates returns on investment, and assesses the maximum return on investment. As a result, for without investment and for each investment plan, a cash flow transition graph, an investment period chart (4310), and a return on investment graph (4320) are displayed. A simulation which takes into consideration external financing is also possible. The invention can also be applied to investment for strengthening of a sales force.
