The invention relates to the method of manufacturing of large sized forgings using alloy material in the Grade 9CrlMo. The content of sulphur and aluminium in the alloy material is maintained in a very narrow range during primary melting to achieve the desired properties of the forgings achieved. Also, the ingots are further remelted using the vacuum art remelting process in a controlled atmosphere to avoid formation of gas holes in the forged component. Thus the forgings obtained with intricate geometry and shapes with larger dimensions possess the desired mechanical and physical properties required to be applied in power generation industry.
