PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently performing an industrially-advantageous low-temperature oxidation reaction, the method by which the low-temperature oxidation reaction using a noble metal nanoparticle-carrying metal oxide catalyst is remarkably promoted without being restricted in shapes or arrangement of the noble metal nanoparticle-carrying metal oxide catalyst. PSOLUTION: The low-temperature oxidation reaction is promoted by performing the low-temperature oxidation reaction using the noble metal nanoparticle-carrying metal oxide catalyst in a low-temperature plasma atmosphere. A low-temperature oxidation reaction apparatus in which a means for supplying a gaseous raw material for the low-temperature oxidation reaction and an oxidizing gas and a means for applying low-temperature plasma are provided as accessories to a reactor for housing the noble metal nanoparticle-carrying metal oxide catalyst, is preferably used as the apparatus for performing the low-temperature oxidation reaction.
