PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device having the surface of barrier ribs formed between pixel electrodes superbly liquid-repellent, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. PSOLUTION: On a base substrate provided with pixel electrodes and barrier ribs formed in a peripheral region of the pixel electrodes, a liquid-repellent solution containing a fluorine-content compound is applied and dried. Then, a process of coating a solvent on grooves formed between the barrier ribs to dissolve the liquid-repellent compound and a process of drying the solvent are repeated alternately a plurality of times to form a liquid repellent-lyophilic pattern on the display device.
