PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine, with respect to date expressions described with various formats, whether or not the date expressions relating to the content of a document are significant.SOLUTION: An input electronic document is divided into sentences (S201), and each of the divided sentences is divided into words (S202). Date expressions are specified from the word string pattern of each sentence composing the input electronic document by referring to a date expression dictionary in which the pattern of a word string pertinent to the date expressions is described (S203). Date expression context vectors showing how the date expressions are used in the context are obtained based on the notation pattern of the date expressions, words appearing before and after the date expressions, and the appearance positions of the date expressions in the document (S204). The date expression context vectors are classified according to a significant date expression determination model for determining whether the date expressions created in preliminary learning are significant or insignificant, and whether or not the date expressions are significant is determined (S205).
