Fiber-optic sensor for measuring temperature and strain of metallic carrier, has internal layer provided between outer layer and protective layer, where internal layer exhibits characteristics activating protective layer
The sensor (10) has a fiber core (11), and a fiber cladding (12) surrounding the fiber core. A protective layer (13) is made of electrically non-conductive material and attached to the cladding. A coating (14) is attached to the protective layer. An outer layer (15) of the coating is formed such that the sensor is attached to a metallic carrier. An internal layer (16) is provided between the outer layer and the protective layer. The internal layer exhibits the characteristics activating the protective layer. The internal layer is made of gold. The protective layer comprises organically modified ceramics(RTM: inorganic-organic hybrid polymer) layer. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a system for connecting a fiber-optic sensor and a metallic carrier.
