A composition containing extract of Corydalis turtschaninovii or dehydrocorydaline is provided to prevent and treat dental caries and have antibacterial effect to Streptococci mutans. A composition for preventing and treating dental caries contains 0.1-50 weight% of Corydalis turtschaninovii extract or dehydrocorydaline isolated from the extract. The extract of Corydalis turtschaninovii is obtained with water, low alcohol of C1-C4 or its mixture solvent. The extract of Corydalis turtschaninovii is extracted using lump stem, leaves, and flowers of Corydalis turtschaninovii. The composition is used in a form of tooth paste, oral cleaner or oral spray. A health functional food for preventing and improving tooth caries contains Corydalis turtschaninovii extract or dehydrocoryldaline isolated from the extract as an active ingredient. The health functional food is used in a form of powder, granule, tablet, capsule or beverage.
