The invention pertains to the field of providing information security for talks between separate premises by detecting potential threats from the formation of acoustic (verbal) information leakage channels in fiber-optic communication systems, wherein said invention can be used in systems for the protection of confidential verbal information. An acoustic (verbal) information leakage channel is identified by monitoring the optical radiations in normal fiber-optic communications. For the security services, the occurrence of any abnormal light radiation or the occurrence of modulation at the acoustic frequencies of the normal light flows is an indicator of a potential threat of a verbal information leak and the need for actions to be taken for the neutralization thereof. A device for implementing this method comprises an optical radiation receiver, and a system for the recording (demodulation) and analysis of the received acoustic signals.
