A fluid dispensing device (1405) for dispensing a fluid product is disclosed. The dispenser includes a dispensing outlet (1411), a supply of fluid product, a dispenser (1430), and a finger-operable actuator (1420).The dispenser (1430) moves in a dispensing direction along an axis (X) from a first position to a second position, which causes a dose of the fluid product in the supply to be dispensed from the dispensing outlet. The finger-operable actuator (1420) moves in an actuating direction, which is generally transverse to the axis (X). The actuator has at least one cam surface (1422) and the dispenser has at least one cam follower surface (1492). The at least one cam surface has a commitment section (1423a), oriented at a first angle to the axis (X), and an adjacent drive section (1423b), which is oriented at a second angle to the axis which is greater than the first angle. The commitment section (1423a) presents a concavely arcuate surface to the cam follower surface (1492) and the drive section (1423b) is arcuate. The first angle of the commitment surface ensures that a minimum actuating force is required to cause the at least one cam follower (1492) surface to ride over the commitment section (1423a) onto the drive section (1423b). The device is configured and arranged so that, in use, and upon movement of the actuator in the actuating direction, the at least one cam follower surface (1492) successively rides over the commitment (1423a) and drive sections (1492b) of the at least one cam surface (1422), to cam the dispenser from the first position to the second position.
