PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure mobility while avoiding increase in own weight, and to secure safety during moving, without causing degraded mountability of sensors.;SOLUTION: An autonomous mobile robot moves autonomously along a generated moving path and includes: a distance measurement unit 33 for obtaining distance measurement data within a moving area; and a drive mechanism for moving within the moving area. The robot further includes: a visually shielded position candidate extraction means 34b for extracting, along the moving path, the candidates of visually shielded positions in which the self can be visually shielded from an enemy for search; an area segmentation means 34a for searching for the enemy for search based on the search data on the enemy for search obtained from an enemy search unit 35; from the candidates of the extracted visually shielded positions, a visually shielded position selection means 34c for selecting a visually shielded position where the robot can be visually shielded from the enemy for search; a moving path generation means 41b for generating the moving path toward the selected visually shielded position; and a moving means 51a for causing movement toward the selected visually shielded position along the generated moving path via the drive mechanism 54.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
