The concept is to apply the nematodes through irrigation water applied by rain-gun, the most common form of application to field crops in the UK. The nematodes are injected into the main feed line to the rain-gun at a rate calculated in relation to the volume of water being applied as required by the crop at that time. The crop water requirements vary but nematode application is usually 50,000 nematodes/m2.
