Medical device for controlling location of e.g. left-ventricular, minimally invasive catheter-based cardiac assist device-blood pump in heart of patient, has reference position sensor arranged at surface of heart of patient
The device has a blood pump (1) for introducing in a heart of a patient (P), and a position detection system (2) provided with position sensors. A reference position sensor (18) is arranged at a surface of the heart of the patient. The position sensors are arranged at the blood pump, for determining a position and a location of a blood pump in the heart of the patient. The position detection system determines distance between the position sensors and the reference position sensor. An optical or acoustic alarm is triggered, when the distance exceeds a preset limit value. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a location of a blood pump in a heart of a patient.
