The heat exchanger has flow channels for a medium and other flow channels for another medium. A heat exchange wall separates the former flow channels from the latter flow channels. Two neighboring and parallel surface extension elements are connected by a connecting element, where the surface extension elements are held at a distance (b) from each other. The connecting element is made up of a metal, particularly aluminum or an alloy, particularly an aluminum alloy or steel. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a heat exchanger.
