The driver carries out the steering movement during the phase of low attention, where the steering characteristics are changed. The attention monitoring system determines the direction of view of the driver in which the monitoring system perceives the head or eye movements of the driver. An independent claim is included for a device for adapting steering characteristics of a vehicle.
