PURPOSE: A car status storing apparatus using a navigation system and a method thereof are provided to grasp the situation just before a vehicle crash by capturing and storing objects which approach to the car.;CONSTITUTION: A car status storing apparatus using a navigation system comprises sensors(102a,102b,102c,102d), cameras, a controller(206), and a storage part(208). The sensors are installed at the fixed area of the vehicle. When the object approaches to the vehicle within fixed distance, the sensor is operated. The cameras capture the images corresponding to the sensor. The controller captures images by selectively operating plural cameras according to the operation of one or more sensors.
