The invention relates to a method for assessing the performance of a motion simulator. The method comprises the steps: (a)select a performance criterion; (b)determine a weighing function, representing the sensitivity of an average user for the performance criterion selected in step (a) as function of motion frequency; (c)have the motion simulator simulate a motion test signal; (d)compare the simulated motion produced by the simulator during step (c) with the motion test signal, so as to obtain a deviation signal; (e)multiply this deviation signal with the weighing function of step (b); and (f)compute the area underneath the signal obtained from step (e) so as to obtain a performance indicator. The invention furthermore relates to a system for assessing the performance of a motion simulator.
