The invention relates to an economic pulley which can be used in mechanical activities. According to the invention, the pulley comprises a wheel (1) which is a segment cut from a metal pipe whose wall thickness is selected depending on the load to be lifted and which has a centrally cut groove for the cable or rope, on the side parts of the wheel (1) there being centrally welded two pieces of platband (2 and 3) whose thickness and width give the pulley resistance, an orifice centered to the wheel (1) is cut through the platband pieces (2 and 3), wherethrough there is forced a bushing having the role of a spacer, with a screw (5) passing therethrough; on the side part of the wheel (1), two other pieces of platband (4 and 6) are screwed to the screw (5), said pieces of platband (4 and 6) having also the role of pulley supporting arms and being clamped by the nut (9)having the role of a safety nut, while between the upper ends of the platband pieces (4 and 6) there is mounted a body (7) with the role of a limiter, which is provided with some lateral channels allowing it to slide up and down, a second screw (8) fixed by a nut passing through the platband pieces (4 and 6) and through the body (7), and to said screw (8) there is fixed the supporting chain (10) whose upper end is passed over the anchoring support (11) and fixed by means of the body (12b), using the screw (13).
