Disclosed is the use of (i) a mucolytic agent selected from the list consisting of N-acetyl cysteine, t-butyl cysteine, a fatly acid derivative of cysteine, N-guanyl-cysteine, ethylcysteine, nesosteine, ambroxol, Dnase, iodine, gesolin, sodium 2-mercaptoethanesulphonate, carbocisteine, mecysteine and bromhexine; and (ii) one or more of colostrum, hyperimmune milk or a component of colostrum and / or hyperimmune milk (such as lactoferrin) in the manufacture of a composition for the inhibition of a disease or condition associated with bacterial colonisation of mucous epithelium. Also disclosed is the use of the above combination in the manufacture of a composition which reduces damage to mucous epithelium or a disease or condition associated with bacterial infection of the mucous epithelium.
