PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating geology in front of a facing of a tunnel which enables accurate estimation of the state of the geology in front of the facing.;SOLUTION: A fracture energy factor is calculated from the data obtained by drilling a drill bed-inspection boring hole 9 in front 13 of the facing, while a bedrock strength and an excavation volume-ratio energy are calculated from the TBM machine data obtained by excavating a bedrock 1 by TBM 3. The fracture energy factor is converted into the bedrock strength and the distribution of the bedrock strength is modeled by a function containing information on a position, such as a mean value function or a covariance function. Based on a model thus obtained, the bedrock strength at an arbitrary point is estimated by using kriging.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
