PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating ductile cast iron molten metal for stabilizing at a low level, the generation of a shrinkage cavity upon casting by ductile cast iron molten metal, and to provide ductile cast iron cast using the method.;SOLUTION: Zr is added to ductile cast iron molten metal, a dendritic austenite structure present as a part of solid phases is made fine in the eutectic solidification stage of a solidification process for the ductile cast iron molten metal, so that the fluidity between the solid phases of the remaining liquid of the molten metal is improved in a solidification process. A part of the Zr-added molten metal is extracted to prepare a test piece. The test piece is treated so as to be in a state at which a dendritic austenite structure can be observed. The treated test piece is observed with a microscope. By evaluating the generation degree of the dendritic austenite structure in the test piece, the molten metal is evaluated regarding the generation of a shrinkage cavity in a mold.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
