The method involves emitting and receiving variable powers by a range finder (2) that communicates with a supervising station (1). A frame with maximum power is emitted from the station. Reduced power is tested by the range finder at same iteration, and a reception acknowledgement is obtained, where the range finder combines points and decreases response power when the acknowledgement is emitted at maximal power. Success rate is calculated by the station and the range finder, and is communicated to an installer to act on antenna or on position of the range finder to search optimal solution. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a supervising station device for implementing a method for assisting positioning of infrastructure of a range finder (2) a range finding device for implementing a method for assisting positioning of infrastructure of a range finder (3) a portable communication device for watching a radio communication between the range finder and the station.
