The device has an ultrasonic transducer (2), which is adjusted by a locomotor system in a direction to a workpiece surface. The ultrasonic radiation is synchronized through the ultrasonic transducer to control the locomotor system. The ultrasonic transducers are temporally nested to control the sound flow from a point to different directions. An independent claim is included a method for non-destructive material testing.
