Method for influencing the gap geometry of a strand guide in a continuous casting installation comprises shifting the center of a strand guide roll (2) by a low amount in the strand direction in the region of the final solidification of the strand for the variable equalization of the surface wear. An independent claim is also included for a device for influencing the gap geometry of a strand guide in a continuous casting installation.
