Driver assisting method for use during shunting or parking of vehicle e.g. vehicle with trailer, involves implementing simulation for determining optimal trajectory or motion sequence of vehicle and displaying trajectory or sequence
The method involves detecting an instantaneous initial position (P1) of a vehicle (1) and associated vehicle surrounding and determining a target position (P2) for the vehicle based on the detected initial position and vehicle surrounding. A simulation is implemented after a driver-sided actuation of the target position of the vehicle for determining an optimal trajectory (B1) and/or associated motion sequence of the vehicle for guiding the vehicle from the initial position to target position. The optimal trajectory and/or motion sequence is displayed on a display device i.e. LCD screen.
