A multipurpose optimization design supporting device using a mathematical formula processing technique, a method, and a recording medium are provided to approximate object functions by a mathematical formula from a sample group of design parameters, thereby calculating the formula by a mathematical formula processing method. A sample group object function calculating unit calculates a group of object functions for a group of samples of design parameters. An available area display unit(104) displays an area obtainable by values of two or three random object functions as an available area, based on a logic formula between the object functions. A design supporting unit carries out design support based on the displaying of the available area. An object function approximating unit approximates the object functions into a mathematical formula.
