The invention relates to a trestle for attaching to a horizontally alignable work platform having two supports (21, 23) extending obliquely to each other and comprising first (20, 22) and second pipe elements (24, 26), wherein a first and second pipe element in each case engage each other and can be displaced axially relative to each other for changing the length. According to the invention, the second pipe elements (24, 26) interact with a cross brace (32), the cross brace (32) has two longitudinal slots (38, 40), each having an outer delimitation (42, 44), a section (36) of a second pipe element (24, 26) or an element extending therefrom engages in one of the longitudinal slots (38, 40). The invention further relates to a trestle that comprises two supports (21, 23) such as pipe elements which preferably extend obliquely to each other and start at a base (16) that can releasably connected to a horizontally alignable work platform (10). The base (16) encompasses a U-shaped basic element (17) that has a plate-shaped transverse leg (70) and lateral legs (62, 64) extending perpendicular to the transverse leg (70), and a supporting element (28) which extends at a distance from the transverse leg and starts at the lateral legs.
