PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll member effective in prevention of the occurrence of plating surface defects due to roll surface characteristic, particularly its surface film structure, and its advantageous production. ;SOLUTION: As to the roll member for hot-dip metal coating bath and its production, a burnt film of an oxide of a metal having affinity for oxygen higher than that of Cr or a mixture of the oxide and nitride thereof is formed on the surface of a WC-Co cermet sprayed coating formed on a base material, and further, fine pores present in the vicinity of the surface layer of the sprayed coating are filled with burnt fine grains of the oxide or the mixture of the oxide and the nitride.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
