The wedge brake, for a vehicle belt, has a wedge mechanism (9) and a rotating component (20) to give it an axial setting. The setting mechanism (21) with an actuator (15), to operate the rotating component, has an eccentric limit stop (11) with a lever arm (12) on a shaft (10) to stop the radial projection (14) on the rotating component to bear against it in the braking position.
