The use of a therapeutically effective amount of an antimycin derivative for the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of a disease associated with apoptosis selected from the group consisting of neoplasms, lymphoproliferative conditions, cancer and drug resistant cancer, in which said derivative of antimycin is selected from the group consisting of antimycin A0 (a), antimycin A0 (b), antimycin A0 (c), antimycin A0 (d), antimycin A1, antimycin A2, antimycin A3, antimycin A4, antimycin A5, antimycin A6, kitamycin A, kitamycin B, uraukimycin B, deisovalerylblastomycin, and dehexyl-deisovalerylblastomycin; with the proviso that the hydroxyl group in the benzene ring is replaced with a methoxy group.
