PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-layered film filter which has both a gain equalizing function and an exciting light transmitting/cutting-off function.;SOLUTION: The multi-layered optical filter 1 has optical films 3a1 to 3aN laminated. The optical film thicknesses of the optical films 3a1 to 3aN are designed by using fittings based upon a specified optical film thickness as an initial value so that 1st errors between logical values representing previously set wavelength characteristics in a wavelength band for gain equalization by using the optical film thicknesses of the optical films 3a1 to 3aN as parameters and a corresponding target wavelength characteristic value in the wavelength band for gain equalization and 2nd errors between logical values rep resenting wavelength characteristics of an exciting light wavelength band other than the wavelength band for gain equalization by using the optical film thicknesees of the optical films 3a1 to 3aN as parameters and a corresponding target wavelength characteristic value in a corresponding exciting light wavelength range becomes small respectively.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
