PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) with high enzymatic activity. PSOLUTION: Disclosed are the following proteins exhibited in (A) and (B): (A) a protein comprising an amino acid sequence in which calmodulin-binding domain is deleted from the amino acid sequence of GAD derived from a rice plant; (B) a protein comprising an amino acid sequence in which one or several amino acids are substituted, deleted, inserted, added or inverted in the amino acid sequence in which the calmodulin-binding domain is deleted from the isoform of the amino acid sequence of the GAD and having a glutamic acid decarboxylase activity.
