Exhaust gas mixing ratio e.g. air-fuel ratio, measuring device for diesel engine, has fat-fatless determining device determining whether ratio is fat or fatless by comparing detection value with predetermined mixing ratio reference value
The device has a gas sensor (10) with a current supplying unit to pump oxygen into a sample gas chamber (21) so that constant voltage is produced between measuring and reference electrodes (22, 28) and a mixing ratio is detected based on the current. A measuring value determining unit measures a detection value in a phase after starting the device, where the value is a potential difference between an outer pump electrode (12) and the electrode (28). A fat-fatless determining device determines whether the ratio is fat or fatless by comparing the value with pre-set mixing ratio reference value. An independent claim is also included for a method of determining mixing ratio of an exhaust gas.
