Frictional coefficient determining device for railway vehicle, has evaluation unit to determine actual longitudinal slippage based on difference between actual propulsion and apparent propulsion, and to determine coefficient from slippage
The device (1) has a wheel rotation sensor (3) for determining actual rotation speed of a wheel. A propulsion detection unit (2) detects actual propulsion of a vehicle independent of the wheel movement. An evaluation unit (4) is connected with the sensor and the unit (2). The evaluation unit determines an actual longitudinal slippage based on a difference between the actual propulsion and apparent propulsion that is determined from the wheel rotation speed. The evaluation unit determines an actual frictional coefficient between the wheel and a track system from the actual slippage. An independent claim is also included for a method for automatic determination of coefficient of friction.
