The method involves dividing a fuel dosage into two partial fuel injections, and correcting a control signal determining the fuel quantity injected by an injector, based on the pressure wave influence of the two fuel injections. The pressure wave correction is carried out based on a physical model, which describes the effect of the pressure wave on the opening behavior of injectors. The pressure wave correction of the pressure gradients at the injectors takes place.
