PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably produce a hot dip Zn-Al-Mg plated steel sheet excellent in surface appearance by preventing the generation of edge wrinkling in the vicinities of the edges of a steel strip and preventing the crystallization of Zn11Mg2 phases (equilibrium phases) at the time of continuously applying the hot dip Zn-Al-Mg plating on the steel strip.;SOLUTION: This method for preventing the wrinkling in the edges of a hot dip galvanized steel sheet is the one in which a steel strip 2 continuously passed through a hot dip galvanizing bath 1 contg., by weight, ≥1.0% Al and 1.0% Mg (e.g. a hot dip Zn-Al-Mg plating bath composed of 4.0 to 10% Al, 1.0 to 4.0% Mg and the balance Zn) is taken up from the bath, the surface of the plating layer in which solidification is not yet completed, is sprayed with the mist of water or an aq. soln.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
