PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic sintered compact provided with excellent electric conductivity, low heat conductivity and excellent machining property, a method of manufacturing the same, and a substrate for a magnetic head in which floating height is substantially reduced to correspond to the high density of magnetic recording by eliminating recess.;SOLUTION: The sintered compact is mainly composed of 20-50 wt.% TiC particle and the balance being Al2O3 particle and has fine particle comprising a metal oxide containing at least one of Ti and Al (except for TiO2 and Al2O3) on the Al2O3 particle. The fine particle comprises A wt.% Al, B wt.% Ti and C wt.% oxygen wherein A=0.03-53 wt.%, B=0.04-60 wt.%, C=39-48 wt.% and A+B+C+=100.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
