The method involves adjusting a steering movement in relation to the driver default initiated by a driver with a changed guidance angle at the wheel shown. A difference between a guidance angle given by the driver, and a target guidance is compared with a threshold value. A transverse acceleration-dependent desired value for the guidance angle at the wheel is adjusted, if the amount of the difference exceeds the threshold value. The steering movement takes place in accordance with condition of an auxiliary guidance angle in dependence of the difference between the guidance angle, given by the driver. The transverse acceleration-dependent desired value is computed. The amount of the auxiliary guidance angle is limited to a maximum value. An independent claim is included for a device.
