The burner (10) has a combustion chamber (12) and an impact plate (14), which is arranged in transverse direction to mainstream flow direction of fuel/air mixture. The outer periphery of impact plate matches the inner periphery of the combustion chamber and the impact plate has a recess (22). The impact plate has a convex cross-section and combustion chamber is single walled.
