The proposed process of the diagnostics of initial diabetic nephropathy in patients with diabetes mellitus consists in carrying out the standard clinical and laboratory examinations, analyzing the blood serum and the urine, and testing the biological material of the patient. The data obtained are used to determine the diagnostic criterion. As the additional biological material, the suspension of the isolated neutrophils of the patient's blood is used. As the diagnostic criterion, the indicator is used that characterizes the expression of intercellular and vascular molecules by neutrophils in the state of the patient before food intake and against a background of postprandial hyperglycemia. If, after 40 minutes after the start of the postprandial hyperglycemia, the value of the expression indicator increases in comparison to the normal value, the emergence and development of the diabetic nephropathy is diagnosed.
