PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rooftop-greening method by a plant strong to drying and hardly causing root rot by which rain water can be effectively utilized, and the base layer is kept wet by natural adsorption of the water in the season in which heat-island phenomenon becomes the problem; and to provide a material and the plant. PSOLUTION: The method is used for greening the rooftop, wall surface or the like. The base layer has a layer for storing the rain water to reduce the heat island phenomenon at the lower part and the stored water keeps the base layer wet by the structure of sticking a part of the base layer to the bottom part of a vessel by the capillary phenomenon. As a result, the rooting of moss is promoted, and maintenance of greening and saving of maintenance labor are achieved. The structure is obtained by surrounding a water-draining layer of the rooftop greening with a frame to raise the edge of a water-proof sheet to provide the storing vessel. The storing layer is partitioned by a soil-fixing sheet, and a mixed lime by-produced in sugar manufacture is placed therein to provide the base having a simple structure without requiring special technique.
