Regulating method for setting the separation distance of a vehicle in which a number of parameters can be considered in obtaining a set distance, with the final set distance limited to a range of reasonable values
Method for regulating the separation distance of a vehicle in which in a first computation step a linking value is determined from the actual separation to the vehicle in front and other parameters describing the vehicle's environment and the driver's behavior. A set separation distance is derived from the linking value. In a second computation step the range of the linking value is limited so that the range of the set vehicle separation is similarly limited. An independent claim is made for a device for regulating the separation distance of a vehicle.
