The present invention relates to a cylindrical stick for NMR measurements, consisting of a cross-linked polymer, wherein the stick has a circular or elliptical cross-section, a diameter of 0.1 to 8 mm and a length of 5 to 50 mm, and wherein the polymer used for the stick is derived from an uncross-linked polymer which is less soluble in water than polyacrylamide. The invention also pertains to a process of measuring NMR experiments, using the stick of the invention, and to a ready-to-use NMR tube containing the stick. The stick of the invention can be used for measuring residual dipolar couplings in NMR experiments.
