PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a predictive method for accurately predicting a total color picture quality score while totally considering plural physical and mental picture quality factors related to the total color picture quality score. SOLUTION: Concerning this total color picture quality score predictive method, as parameters, there are mental and physical picture quality amounts as individual mental picture quality factors contributed to the total color picture quality score of recording device or display device while expressing mental quantity such as (1) graininess, (2) gradation reproducibility, (3) sharpness, (4) resolution, (5) color reproducibility, (6) gloss, (7) character discriminability, (8) texture, (9) stereoscopic effect, (10) coloring, (12) constitutive materials (12) and defect. Concerning these mental picture quality factors (1)-(12) as mentioned above, the relation between the mental/ physical picture quality amount and the total color picture quality score provided concerning the existent recording device or display device are previously stored in a memory 7 as statistical data. The total color picture quality score of the recording device or display device as an evaluation object is statistically predicted while using the relation between the mental/physical picture quality amount and the total color picture quality score in the memory 7 as the statistical data.
