PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic flash device realizing photography with higher exposure accuracy by making sensitivity high in accurate timing when exposure gets insufficient even by full light emission considering the insufficiency of light quantity in the full light emission caused by the influence of the lowering of charging charge for an electronic flash capacitor by preliminary light emission.;SOLUTION: The camera system performs the preliminary light emission such as light emission for red-eye phenomenon and pre-light emission before regular light emission at the time of photography with electronic flash light emission. When performing the regular light emission just after the preliminary light emission, a Bucom 150 receives the stored charge amount of the electronic flash capacitor 304 at such a time from an Fucom 350 and calculates an effective guide number being a substantial maximum guide number from the received charge amount. Then, gain rise for the case the exposure gets insufficient even by the full light emission is performed and controlled based on the effective guide number.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
