PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a map-providing device capable of providing a map with which a user can easily recognize the relation between directions of the map and actual directions, without utilizing a means of specifying the direction, such as a compass.;SOLUTION: The map-providing device 10, which receives location information showing the location of a mobile terminal 30 from the mobile terminal 30 having at least a display part 32 and transmits a map image corresponding to the received location information to the mobile terminal 30, is provided with a reference direction specifying means 104 which specifies the reference direction which the user of the mobile terminal 30 requires, when determining the direction of the map image displayed on the display part 32 of the mobile terminal 30, on the basis of location information received from the mobile terminal 30; a reference direction information generating means 100 which generates reference direction information which causes the user of the mobile terminal 30 to recognize the reference direction specified by the reference direction specifying means 104; and a transmission means 100, which transmits reference direction information generated by the reference direction information generating means 100 to the mobile terminal, together with the map image.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
