The assembly has a compressor (36) with a cylindrical envelope (40) having an assembly of compression cells (42,44,46,48) each constituting a compression stage. The cells are arranged between an inlet cell having an inlet duct for supplying the compression stages and an outlet cell defining a discharge volute. Two axle ends are respectively disposed between a rotor and the inlet cell and between the rotor and outlet cell. The rotor is driven by an electric motor and each of the compression cells includes a radial impeller driven by the rotor.
