A skin substitute (A) comprises a cellular layer (B), of keratinocytes and/or fibroblasts, adherent on a bioresorbable, three-dimensional matrix (C) based on chitosan, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) support (D) for cell cultures, for preparation of (A), in which the culture surface comprises (C) and has surface area at least 15 cm2; (2) cultures of adherent cells (keratinocytes, fibroblasts or stem cells) on (D); (3) methods for preparing (D); and (4) method for preparing (A) by culturing cells on (D).
